Safety first with Bruel & Kjaer

Avoiding legal action and ensuring employees aren’t exposed to dangerous levels of noise is much simpler for pub and club owners with Bruel & Kjaer’s Noise Dose meters.

Since April 6th 2008, all employers operating within the music and entertainment sectors must comply with The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, which involves assessing the risks to their employees from noise at work - and taking action to reduce that noise exposure.

Ideal for entertainment venues such as pubs, bars or nightclubs to ensure employees aren’t exposed to illegally high noise levels, the compact and lightweight Noise Dose meters are simple to operate.

The meter is worn by an employee with the microphone fastened close to the ear. Once the meter has been attached, it is simply switched on and left to measure the noise levels while the employee carries out their duties as normal.

The meter calculates the amount of noise (called “dose”) received by an individual during their working day. The noise dose is expressed as the equivalent average sound level for an 8-hour period (reference duration) and this level must be below the limit specified in the relevant occupational health regulation.
