Made to Measure
Carrying out sound insulation measurements is set to become much simpler for building acoustic practitioners with Brüel & Kjær’s new Power Amplifier: 2734-B.
As building acoustic assessments are now used widely to certify rooms for their intended use, diagnose noise nuisance issues and improve music or theatre performing spaces, the job of measuring sound insulation or reverberation time has become almost a weekly or even daily task for acoustic practitioners.
Designed to meet this increasing need for smaller, more efficient building acoustic tools, Brüel & Kjær’s 2734-B has a high power output which delivers up to 500W to the associated sound source and the unit weighs less than 7 kilograms. The class D amplifier has been housed in a robust, hard wearing flight case making it suitable for the rigours of transportation and operation in dusty construction environments.
Fully compatible with Brüel & Kjær’s range of omni-directional sound sources used in field based building acoustic measurement, the amplifier has a built-in pink and white noise generator, which can be controlled manually or by the wireless remote control option for the Type 2250, 2270 and 2260 hand-held analysers. Wireless transmission of the test signal from the measuring instrument to the amplifier using the UL-0256 wireless accessory option allows a simple and cable free measurement process.
Calibrated controls and level indicator lamps ensure reproducing previous amplifier settings is clear and easy, whilst the indicator lamps also serve to protect the sound source from excessive signal levels.
